Funerals

The churches of Saint George the Martyr and Holy Trinity are here for everyone to offer God's love, care and support at the time of bereavement. The Funeral Director will contact the clergy at your request or you can contact the Rector directly if you prefer, to make arrangements for a church service (see below).

Our clergy are also able to conduct funeral services in Crematoriums and Cemetery Chapels and at the graveside.

Holy Trinity Churchyard

Holy Trinity has a churchyard that is open for burials and for the internment of ashes for those who live within the parish of Holy Trinity or are members of the electoral roll.

In 2013 the PCC of Holy Trinity passed a resolution that they would not allow grave spaces or plots to be 'reserved'. So plots are only allocated as and when a death occurs and they are always buried in the next available plot.

There are very precise regulations about the type of memorials allowed in a churchyard, including rules on the material, size and inscription of any stonework, and on any decoration. To avoid any distress to you or your family, please seek permission from the church before commissioning any designs or placing any items.

All Souls Day Service

Every year we hold a service of Commemoration for the Faithful Departed on All Souls Day. We endeavour to contact all families whom we have met during the year following the loss of a loved one and for whom we have conducted a funeral service. They are invited to attend, to light a candle and/or place a flower in memory. We also invite anyone connected with our churches to put names on a list of people whom they wish to be remembered at that service. This has become a very popular service and a much appreciated way of remembering our loved ones. This year it’ll be held at Holy Trinity on Saturday 2nd November at 6pm.
